To download and run the Oracle Smart View for Office installer:

  1. Start Oracle Enterprise Performance Reporting Cloud in a web browser, and log in with your user name and password.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the Oracle Enterprise Performance Reporting Cloud web interface, select the arrow next to your user name to display the user menu.
  3. From the user menu, select Downloads.
  4. In Downloads, under Smart View, click Download From Oracle Technology Network.

  5. On the Smart View information page on Oracle Technology Network, click Download Latest Version.
  6. On the Smart View download page, click Accept License Agreement, and then click Download Now.

    If the Oracle sign-in page is displayed, then sign in with your Oracle user name (usually your email address) and password.

  7. Follow the steps for your browser to download the ZIP file, and save it to a folder on your computer; for example, you can save it in the Downloads folder or in a different folder of your choice.
  8. Navigate to the folder that you used in step 7, and then double-click SmartView.exe to start the installation wizard.
  9. Select a destination folder for Smart View, and then click OK.

    If you are upgrading an installation of Smart View, then the installer defaults to the folder where you previously installed Smart View.

  10. When installation is complete, click OK.

Oracle Smart View for Office provides a common Microsoft Office interface designed specifically for Oracle's Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) and Business Intelligence (BI) solutions.

Using Smart View, you can view, import, manipulate, distribute and share data in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint interfaces. It is a comprehensive tool for accessing and integrating EPM and BI content from Microsoft Office products.

Microsoft Office 365 refers to subscription plans that include access to Office applications plus other productivity services that are enabled over the Internet (cloud services) in addition to access to desktop versions.

Smart View (Mac and Browser) provides an interface between Oracle’s EPM Cloud solutions and Microsoft Office 365 deployed in a web browser on either Windows or Mac systems. Specifically the Chrome browser on Windows/Mac is supported. Other platforms and devices are planned for a future release.

Smart View (Mac and Browser) was developed because the existing Smart View add-in infrastructure supports only Windows desktop deployments and the Smart View (Mac and Browser) deployment aligns more closely with Microsoft Office 365. Other benefits include:

  • Ad hoc analysis operations such as: Zoom, Pivot, Keep/Remove only, as well as Submit, Range Operations, Analyze/Free Form and Formula Preservation

  • Form operations such as: Form Open and Refresh, Submit from Forms, Expand/Collapse, Supporting Details, Mass Allocate, Job Console, Copy Version, Business Rules, and Analyze

  • Options and Styles

  • Member Selection and POV

  • Drill Through

  • Saving ad hoc grids as forms, including saving formatting

  • Saving ad hoc grids as Smart Forms, including saving formatting

  • Spreading, Grid Spread, Cell Locking, and Mass Allocation

  • Functions - manual use of HsGetValue and HsSetValue

  • Application building and maintenance for administrators

Some Smart View for Office features are currently not available in Smart View (Mac and Browser), such as:

  • Task lists

  • Double-click on member or data cells is not supported. Instead, use ribbon commands to accomplish tasks, such as zoom-in.
